Joanie: When I was a kid they used to sell these in Vincent’s Paper Store in Vineyard Haven. I think they were pretty pricey; I don’t know, we never got one, but the tourists bought them often. They sold them in tubes but there was a picture up on the wall of them. This is the first time in years and years I’ve seen this (missed it I guess last year). Nice, nice map. I know you love it. Possibly they had a post card of it; I don’t know for sure. Thanks for showing it on your blog; I enjoyed seeing it again.

We bought it on Circuit Ave in Oak Bluffs, don’t remember the name of the long gone store though. There was a black & white version but my dad liked the colorized one better. It did come in a roll and when we got home to NJ he had it framed for me. Still original frame.

My uncle was Lloyd Coe. I was searching the web, looking to see if any of his paintings are online, when I found your blog. I’ve never seen this map, or an image of it, before. Uncle Lloyd was born in Edgartown in 1899 but left with his family at about age one, I think, and thereafter lived in New York and New England. His father was a minister so they moved quite often but they continued to visit the Vineyard in the summer. Do you keep the map in MV or NJ? I visit MV from time to time and I was wondering, if you have it there, whether you’d permit me to take a look at it. I’d appreciate that very much.
