Coffee And Shopping Day …

Every Saturday my daughter Deb and I go out for coffee and sometimes shopping as well.  Her best friend Dawn often joins us and we always have a good time… lots of laughing is involved.

This past Saturday we went to the pretty and charming small town of Lafayette, New Jersey which is set in the rolling hills of Sussex County.   There are a lot of antique stores and although antiques are not quite my thing it’s fun to poke around in the shops and discover that some of the antiques are things that my parents actually had when I was a child.

Our first stop was a Cloveberry, a charming coffee/food/bakery cafe.  We will definitely be going back.  The coffee was superb and the mixed berry scone I had was not only massive but de-lic-ious.

It was in the last shop, Sweet P.E.A.’s that we spent the most time… and yes, it was sweet.  Somehow I got into one of the pictures !

From the window you can see and hear water rushing past…

When we went outside we saw this building…

… nice view from inside.

It was a lovely day and I’m sure we’ll go back.

These aren’t signs of spring but signs that made me smile..

I'm married, I have two daughters and two grandchildren and they all love MV. Enjoy my MV blog and contact me if I can answer any questions. This blog started out as strictly about Martha's Vineyard but over the years I've branched out to include other obsessions and interests. I enjoy photography and like sharing my photos here as well. Hope you enjoy :)

  1. Nice refreshing pictures:) Daughters like to accompany their mums for shopping. Sons get bored and refuse flatly.

  2. Isn’t that the truth 🙂

  3. I love this post Joan! Starting with the Coffee shop and beautiful looking scone to all the other interesting looking shops…it looks like a great way to spend Saturday morning or afternoon.

Beautiful photos of the New Jersey countryside, too!

    Enjoy your wonderful spring!

  7. It was fun and such a picturesque spot. Actually, my older daughter works in one of the shops in that town.

  8. Delicious coffee and scone, wonderful antique shops, beautiful rushing brook, but the best part must be spending time with your daughter. 🙂 Certainly a nice way to spend a day.
