Tisbury Sky …

Author: mvobsession

I'm married, I have two daughters and two grandchildren and they all love MV. Enjoy my MV blog and contact me if I can answer any questions. This blog started out as strictly about Martha's Vineyard but over the years I've branched out to include other obsessions and interests. I enjoy photography and like sharing my photos here as well. Hope you enjoy :)

  1. Wow, I can see the moon so clearly-oh, wait, that’s on the turbine!

  2. Joanie: You know I loved the winter on the island. I think it was the starkness of it all and looking into the tops of bare trees, I used to dream. My father and I would walk his muskrat trap trails through the swamps of Mink Meadows. Near the beach was what I called a sand hole – it was a dune near the beach and yet near the swamp. It was surrounded by pines and bare oaks. He’d leave me there while he went into the deep swamp – he had boots; I didn’t. And I’d lie there in cold, cold winter — outside the dune, but warm inside the sand dune hole and I’d watch the trees and promise myself I would not go to sleep until I had seen at least one hawk. Most of the time, I succumbed without sighting a hawk, but when I did see one, I felt like he had sailed over that spot just to let me go to sleep. I loved that place and seeing these trees reminded me of another time . . . childhood on the island. Thank you. Seamond
