The cobbled stone tower of the Vineyard Haven Methodist Church I used to think of as a castle turret. It just fascinated me. I always wanted to go up in the belfry. I had a girlfriend who was Methodist and I went to churchwith her a few times, trying to drum up the courage to talk her preacher into letting me do that. The second time I was really REALLY all ready to ask him and when he looked at me, he was so stern he scared me so much I forgot to ask him. I just KNEW he already knew what I was going to say and would holler out a big, loud NO. After that, I never dared ask . . . .but I'd still like to.
